Does he just get cuter by the day or what?!!! I can't believe Dexter is already 4 weeks old!
As you probably already know, Dexter has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. A sonogram on his thyroid showed us that one side of his thyroid didn't fully develop. The doctors have decided to keep him on meds for at least the first 3 years (the years most critical to brain development) to make sure he doesn't have any problems. Then we'll see if there's any chance of weaning him off. Meanwhile, we'll be at the hospital once a month for blood tests to make sure he's getting the right amount of meds. Bummer.
Other than that Dex is doing great! We've pretty much determined he's a genius. He's already doing all the things he's supposed to be doing by 2 months! He's beginning to make some sweet cooing sounds, but mostly he does a lot of grunting. It's so funny! He's a super sweet boy. Mahlon and I are enjoying every minute!
