CARCIOFI FEST

Dexter and I went with some friends today to Ramacca, a small town about 20 minutes down the road, for their annual Artichoke Festival! It was not as big as many of the festivals we've been to, but this one had artichokes everywhere, and that made it the best one.

Stands lined the streets with vendors selling panini, cannoli, pizze, meatballs, sausages, candy, crepes and of course, artichokes!



They were smoked on coals like this:

Dexter wanted some, of course!



Just before we left there was a small procession of traditional Sicilian horse carts! We see pictures of these everywhere, but never see the real thing!
