VOLCANIC SLEDDING

It's 70 degrees and sunny in Sicily this week, except on top of the volcano! There's snow coming halfway down the mountain, and we took advantage of it Saturday. Mahlon rented a sled and snowboard and we were off!

What a beautiful day it was on the mountain too!
We arrived around lunchtime so we had a panino right away. Dexter was being a crab as usual.

That's better!
Look at beautiful Etna park! It was hard to tell whether or not it was snowing, since the wind was blowing so hard! It could have been the snow was just blowing around. Because of the winds the lifts were closed. So Mahlon didn't get to do his snowboarding. Luckily we still had the sled!

Since we don't have any snow clothes (except Mahlon, who rented them with his snowboard) we had to improvise. We wore lots of warm layers. Unfortunately Dexter doesn't have gloves and we couldn't find any in his size at the exchange, so he wore tube socks on his hands. Can you see "Hanes" across his hand?
Dexter laughed the whole way down!

Mahlon went all the way to the top to sled:

It's a beautiful view from the top.
I love how pretty the snow looks on the black lava rock.
