MALTA, DAY 1

We celebrated Mahlon's graduation last weekend with a Dex-free weekend in Malta! Dexter stayed with my good friend and co-worker, Nitza.  We flew down Thursday night and stayed for three nights at this beautiful hotel:
We spent the first day in Valletta, the capital city.  We had only planned to visit Valletta for this "Malta Experience" movie that was recommended by friends, but our cab driver gave us a map of Valletta and told us what to do in the city for a couple hours, so we did!
The cab driver said we HAD to visit St. John's church and we did exactly what he said.  It was a huge church and so beautiful.
In Malta, they always put multiple clocks on the churches and only set one to the correct time.  This confuses the devil so he won't know what time mass starts.  Brilliant!
It was one of the most beautiful churches we've seen.  And we've seen a lot of churches!

After we had scoped out Valletta we went to The Malta Experience movie where we went into these underground rooms under Fort St. Elmo (where real knights used to defend the island) and learned the entire history of Malta in an hour.  It was great!

We spent the evening in St. Julian's and, of course, we ate at Hard Rock Cafe!  Haha!  We have to get some American food when we get the chance!

That's our hotel all the way to the left.  It was in a beautiful spot!
