CASTELBUONO AND CEFALU'

On mom and dad's last day here we went on an all-day bus trip to Castelbuono and Cefalu. Both cities were used in the film, "Cinema Paradiso." First stop, Castelbuono, which means "good castle" and is named for its ginormous castle. It's kind of a steep climb up to the castle if you've got a stroller. The view from the castle entrance is gorgeous! Here's the courtyard inside the castle.
The castle has its own church inside. Many churches have their claims to fame in pieces of saints bodies. I know, it's pretty gross. This church claims to have the head of Saint Anna, who they say is Mary's mother. You can't see it, but it's back there in a special nook in the wall back there.
That dark window back there with a gate over it. That's where it is.

We were excited to explore the little town, but mostly to eat.

Lookie what we found, right in the middle of town!

There was a baby! It was so sweet!

Here's the castle we toured.

These are little lambs made of sugar. They're special for Easter.

Next we visited Cefalu. It could be my favorite part of Sicily. Can you guess why?

Open any book about Sicily and you'll see Cefalu, most likely this church in the duomo:

It was Dexter's first trip to the beach! We took his shoes off and put his feet in the sand. He hated it!

See him burying his head on grandpa.

I put my feet in the water too and it was SO COLD! Poor little guy, he was so upset!

So we didn't stay long.

I love beautiful Cefalu!
